Mango Bay is set in spectacular tropical gardens on a secluded beach in St. James. An outstanding example of Oliver Messel's genius, the villa has been described as one of the most beautiful villas in Barbados.
Built of coral stone with a fountain at its main entrance, the villa has recently been restored.
Tastefully furnished, the villa features an open play layout designed to take advantage of the lovely views of the Caribbean Sea. The lovely formal living room flows onto a gracious patio, inviting guests to linger over breathtaking garden and sea views.
A second sitting room opens onto an uncovered terrace with lounge chairs and wrought iron table seating eight and paths lead to the beach and sea. Paths lead to a charming dining pagoda by the sea with a picturesque lily pond. Guests can dine in comfort and elegant style in the dining pavilion, as well, which has a large carved coral stone table that can seat up to 14 and overlooks the villa's swimming pool.
A small gazebo with built in dining table suitable for serving children's meals, also, overlooks the pool.
There are 6 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom and can accommodate up to 13guests.
The master suite with its adjoining marble bathroom has two twin beds, remote controlled air conditioning, and two telephone lines. There are three additional bedrooms with twin beds that can be made up as King beds in the main house, all with bathrooms with tub/showers en-suite and air conditioning. A single bedroom is also available in the main wing.
A separate enchanting cottage is set back and located on the extensive southern lawn. It offers two air-conditioned double bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms. The cottage has its own terrace overlooking the gardens and the sea as well as its own car park and entrance to the main road. The owners' suite is not available for rental.
A study contains a TV, VCR and extensive library. Communications are easy with four telephone lines, including a Fax line, extensions in five bedrooms, a portable phone and an intercom.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with industrial gas stove, two fridges, deep freeze, two ice makers, dishwasher, coffee makers, top quality glassware and china for varied place settings.
A capable staff of five to eight members, including a cook, butler, three maids, laundress, two gardeners, and night watchman, all contribute to a carefree holiday.
